IFPRI-PNG released its January 2026 quarterly newsletter, which features new research on the economywide and regional impacts of public investments and external shocks on agricultural production, income, consumption, and trade. The newsletter also includes a working paper examining the associations between women’s empowerment and child nutrition outcomes across Papua New Guinea, Timor-Leste, and Sri Lanka. In addition, the Q3 Fresh Food Price Bulletin has been released, discussing food price trends across several markets in Papua New Guinea.
The newsletter further highlights recent research seminars at the University of Papua New Guinea, showcasing IFPRI-PNG’s work on child growth, nutrition, and macroeconomic modelling to inform national development goals. It also features insights from field-based learning under the Market for Village Farmers (MVF) project and a two-week capacity-strengthening workshop conducted in collaboration with the National Agricultural Research Institute (NARI), focused on building quantitative value chain research capacity and strengthening evidence to support fresh produce development in PNG.
