IFPRI-PNG has released its April 2026 quarterly newsletter, featuring new findings from the Papua New Guinea Low Skill Urban Wage Survey, offering regionally and gender-disaggregated insights on earnings, payment preferences, purchasing power, and food affordability. The issue also includes a working paper assessing the economic impacts of the 2025 U.S. tariffs on PNG’s trade, GDP, and household incomes, as well as two working papers on fresh produce value chains examining market structures, flows, and price dynamics using FPDA data. The newsletter highlights key events, including the official launch of the IFPRI-PNG country office and IFPRI-PNG’s participation in an Australia Awards–funded University of Queensland short course on Food Security and Climate Resilience, held in Port Moresby. It also reports on progress in capacity strengthening with NARI for a quantitative vegetable value chain survey and the activation of the Technical Working Group for PNG’s 2026 National Nutrition Survey.
