Helmtrude Sikas-Iha (or Trudie)
Helmtrude Sikas-Iha (or Trudie) is a consultant for IFPRI in Papua New Guinea (PNG). She is passionate about fostering inclusive governance for agri-food systems, nutrition, and school gardens in the region. Trudie embarked on her journey with IFPRI in 2023 and was part of the IFPRI team that successfully implemented and launched the 2023 PNG Rural Household Survey Report. Prior to joining IFPRI, Trudie held positions with International NGOs and FAO as the Country’s Food Security Cluster Coordinator. She also oversaw a school gardens project, focusing on governance and served as the Nutrition-Sensitive Advisor at Adam Smith International. Leveraging this extensive background, Trudie now collaborates with stakeholders to strengthen IFPRI’s in-country presence and address priority research needs for PNG.
